The main purpose of the organisation is to provide humanitarian support for the Tamil refugees and displaced people affected by natural disaster and civil war in Sri Lanka. This assistance helps them to meet their basic needs and enhance their quality of life. To achieve the above main purpose, Eelam
Tamil Association (Australasia) was formed in 1977 as a non-profitable
charitable organisation.
- To preserve and to protect the rights - social, economic and cultural - of Tamils of Eelam. - To maintain links with Tamils of Eelam. - To finance undertakings, projects and to generally improve conditions of Tamils in Eelam. - To provide emergency help and assistance to Tamils in Australasia and other parts of the world. - To enter into any arrangements with any authority and to obtain from such authority any rights, privileges and concessions, which the Association may think it desirable to obtain. - To take such steps by personal or written appeals or otherwise, as may from the time to time be deemed to be expedient for the purpose of procuring contribution to the funds of the Association in the form of donation, annual subscription or otherwise. - To print and publish periodicals or leaflets the Association may think desirable for the promotion of its objects. - To make donations for patriotic or charitable purposes. - To do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the objects and the exercise of the power of the Association. |
