Accounting principles and methods adopted in the accounts
>The accounts have been prepared on the accrual basis, and in accordance with applicable Statements of Accounting Concepts and Auditing Standards issued by the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB). They have also been prepared on the basis of historical cost. The accounting policies have been consistently applied unless otherwise stated.

Information of any material occurrence

The Association was actively involved in various fundraising activities. The total revenue from fundraising activities was $64,729 for the year 2000/2001 which is $11,791 more than previous year. The income was almost two fold of the previous year. The increase in income was resulted due to the sucessful cultural function organised during the year with assistance of Indian artists and the generious donations received form the public for the Medical fund and Raffle

The Association has made an operating profit of $ 11,199 for year. This net result is achieved after making charitable donations of $57,057. This results is remarkable because the Association was able to spent more than 62% of its Goss income on charitable purpose. The Association was able to achieve this result from the invaluable voluntary services from its members and the community.

Declaration by the President in respect of fundraising appeals

I, Vaithilingam Elalingam, President of the Eelam Tamil Association Inc. declare that in my opinion:

a) the accounts give a true and fair view of all income and expenditure of the Eelam Tamil Association with respect to funds raising appeals; and
b) the balance sheet gives a true and fair view of the state of affairs with respect to fundraising appeals; and
c) the provisions of the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991 and regulations under the Act and the conditions attached to the authority have been complied with.
d) the internal control exercised by Eelam Tamil Association are appropriate and effective in accounting for all income receive.
