Activities
The ETA supports humanitarian projects in North and East of Sri Lanka which are affected by the civil war and Activities to benefit the Tamil Community in Sydney. The projects are run by recognised organisations in Sri Lanka and the ETA contributes part of the cost of the projects. Request for assistance are received from humanitarian assistance Organisations working in the North and East of Sri Lanka, Such requests are discussed in detail at the Committee of the Association and suitable projects are selected based of the current of the area and the availability of funding. If the Association feels any project is important, the Association conducts special funding appeals to the community.

Due to the present situation in these areas, the Association feels that the resettlement of refugees, rehabilitation of war affected civilians, provision of education and medical facilities for displaced population are of priority. Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation, Tamil Eelam Economic Development Organisation, Peoples Welfare Association, Durga Devi Devasthan, Bishop of Mannar, Bishop of Point Pedro are the main organisation involved in the management of the projects in North and East of Sri Lanka. The details of the projects undertaken by the association and the amount contributed to during the past years are given below:

The above projects (excluding used clothes) are partly supported by donations contributed by the Eelam Tamil Association (Australasia) Inc. Associations members actively involve in collection and shipment of clothes on voluntary basis.
Furthermore, the Association conducts several fund raising activities each year to raise funds for charitable purposes and these activities are conducted by the Associations members on voluntary basis.
